We sat down with the Founder of Antrim Tree Service to find out the origin story of his arborist life.
Jerret, why tree service?
Tree service is something I had a lot of experience with through helping out friends and family and through my own home ownership tree removal needs. I felt like God gave me the ability to understand both the science and art of tree service, and I enjoy being in nature and working with my hands. It seemed like a natural fit to launch a tree business.
How did you choose the name: “Antrim Tree Service”?
I wanted a name that people local to this area would recognize as well as one that held meaning for me. And ‘Greencastle Tree Service’ just felt a little too long and didn’t have the ring I was looking for. So I researched the meaning of ‘Antrim’ and discovered its origin is Irish and its meaning is “lone ridge”. Given my significant Irish heritage and love of time in the mountains, it seemed perfect.

What has been the biggest challenge of the arborist life so far?
The biggest challenge at this point has been learning to trust my climbing equipment…my harness, climbing line, etc. It took some time until I trusted that equipment to keep me from falling to the ground.
Has there been anything surprising about being an arborist?
The biggest surprise has been the amount of customer connection and how pleasant it’s been to work for everyone. It’s been a joy to get to know people we never would have met otherwise.
...and also that snakes will crawl up the tree with you while you’re out on a limb. Eeewwwww!
What’s something unique about you that serves you well as an arborist?
I have a relentless drive to achieve my goals and a strong work ethic, which led to our tagline: rooted in excellence. Tree removals often have unforeseen challenges to overcome and are physically and mentally demanding, and I believe that relentless drive helps me face all that head on.
What’s one thing you would like potential customers to know?
Simply that we want to serve you with excellence. If you’re not happy, we’re not happy…we’ll do what we can to ensure your satisfaction.
